Supreme Court Lawyer Files Formal Complaint to ICC Over Pakistani Cricketer’s ‘Namaaz’ and Gaza Solidarity Gesture

Indian Supreme Court lawyer Vineet Jindal has officially filed a complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) against Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batsman, Mohammad Rizwan. The complaint is centered on Rizwan’s on-field conduct, which includes offering prayers on the cricket ground and expressing support for Gaza. Jindal argues that these actions run counter to the essence of sportsmanship.

In his complaint, addressed to ICC Chairman Greg Barclay, Jindal specifically points out that during Pakistan’s opening match in the ongoing ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 against the Netherlands on October 6, Mohammad Rizwan was observed offering namaz on the cricket field. Jindal, an advocate of the Supreme Court of India, believes that these actions defeat the spirit of sports and thus warrant attention from the governing body of international cricket.
