Dimapur Civil Society and Tribal Bodies Collaborate to Tackle Drug Abuse and Illegal Taxation

A joint meeting of the Vigilance Committee of Dimapur Naga Council and various civil society organizations in Dimapur has resulted in a resolution. The resolution outlines that all tribal bodies based in Dimapur will provide volunteers to the Vigilance Committee when needed to combat the issues of drug abuse and illegal taxation. The aim is to support law enforcement agencies in addressing these problems effectively.

The meeting, held at the Naga Council office in Dimapur, was attended by representatives from various tribal apex bodies, unions, associations, non-Naga communities, Chakhroma Public Organization, Western Sumi Hoho, and Naga Council Dimapur. In addition to addressing the concerns related to drug abuse and illegal taxation, the meeting also resolved to submit a memorandum to the Government of India, urging the expedited resolution of the protracted Naga political issue.

Furthermore, the participants emphasized the principle of “One Government, One Tax” and resolved that any unlawful collection of taxation or donations by welfare organizations, unions, or other entities would be rigorously dealt with under the appropriate legal provisions.

This joint effort highlights the community’s commitment to addressing crucial issues such as drug abuse, illegal taxation, and the longstanding Naga political matter.
