Why Does Raj Kundra, Husband of Shilpa Shetty, Choose to Wear a Mask in Public?

Raj Kundra, who had been consistently wearing a mask in public, recently removed it at the trailer launch event of his upcoming film “UT 69,” which is based on his real-life experiences. The movie depicts how Raj Kundra faces legal issues and lands in jail over charges related to producing pornographic content. Directed by Shahnawaz Ali, Raj Kundra attended the press conference wearing a helmet-like mask but later revealed the reason behind his mask-wearing.

He expressed, “I wore the mask out of pain. The media trial was painful. It was more painful than my legal trial that’s going on. I don’t blame you (addressing the media) as you were doing your work. But it was so painful that I wanted to cover up. I don’t want to be spotted. I don’t want to get clicked.”

Raj Kundra had faced charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Indecent Representation of Women (Prevention) Act, and the Information Technology Act for allegedly distributing and transmitting sexually explicit videos in July 2021. He was subsequently arrested by the Mumbai Police but granted bail in September 2021 by a metropolitan magistrate’s court.

Since his release, Raj Kundra had maintained a low-profile and often appeared in public with a mask. Even during a recent dinner date with Shilpa Shetty, both were seen wearing masks, earning the nickname “power ranger couple” from the paparazzi. Shilpa Shetty briefly removed her mask upon the paparazzi’s request before entering the restaurant.
