Tseminyu, November 4, 2023: In a collaborative effort between the Tseminyu District Chess Association and the Child Welfare Committee of Tseminyu, the 1st Inter High School Beginner’s Chess Championship 2023 was successfully organized. The event took place at Christian School, Tseminyu, with sponsorship from Young Rengma Entrepreneurs and individual chess enthusiasts.
Gwayhunle Tep, the SDEO Cum DEO in charge of Tseminyu, graced the ceremony and underscored the significance of introducing chess in schools. He highlighted the numerous benefits of the game, emphasizing that it can be enjoyed by individuals of all ages and genders.
Jetilo Apon, the Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee in Tseminyu, addressed the importance of child rights and school safety during the event.
A total of 22 players from seven different schools in Tseminyu District registered for the championship. In the Junior Category, Kentye Kent of BHSS emerged as the Champion, while in the Sub-Junior Category, Miluti Apon from BHSS claimed the Championship title.
This initiative not only promotes the game of chess but also highlights the importance of child rights and school safety, fostering a holistic approach to education and extracurricular activities.
