Conclusion of 40-Hour Mediation Training Programme for Judicial Officers and Advocates in Nagaland

Kohima, November 4, 2023: The 40-Hour Mediation Training Programme for Judicial Officers and Advocates in Nagaland, which commenced on October 31, reached its culmination at SIRD, Kohima. Mezivolu T Therieh, OSD Registrar and Member Secretary of the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee at the Supreme Court of India, presided over the event. During the ceremony, certificates were presented to the participants, marking the successful conclusion of the training.

Mezivolu T Therieh expressed optimism that the practice of mediation would continue to grow in the state, with trained judges and advocates leading the way in the days and years to come. He commended the trainers for their dedicated efforts in imparting the best and most up-to-date techniques, information, and knowledge to the participants from Nagaland.

District Judge and Director of the Delhi Judicial Academy, Dr. Aditi Chaudhury, encouraged the trainees to become pioneers of mediation in the state. She urged them to not only practice mediation within the state but also become trainers themselves, extending their expertise beyond the borders of Nagaland.

Over the course of five days, this intensive 40-hour Mediation training program saw the successful completion of training by 28 Judicial Officers and advocates. It is expected that this training will contribute to the growth and promotion of mediation as an effective dispute resolution mechanism in Nagaland.
