Nagaland Legal Services Authority Honors Achievements on National Legal Services Day

In commemoration of National Legal Services Day, the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority organized a commendation program in Kohima. Ajongba Imchen, Registrar of Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, emphasized the need for a legal revolution at the grassroots level, enabling people to be aware of their rights and entitlements under the constitution.

Imchen stressed that the mission of legal services requires individuals with passion and determination to drive systemic change. He emphasized that legal services should not only be free but also competent and tailored to meet the diverse needs of the people.

The commendation program recognized outstanding contributors in the legal services domain. P Monyei Phom from Longleng District Legal Services Authority received the Best Panel Lawyer award, while Imsutoshi Sangtam from Tuensang DLSA was honored as the Best Community Para Legal Volunteer. Hito Swu from Zunheboto DLSA was recognized as the Best Para Legal Volunteer in Prison.

Additionally, Kohima College and Stella Higher Secondary School in Kohima received accolades as the Best Legal Aid Clinic in Educational Institutions at the college and school levels, respectively. The awards highlight the commitment and excellence demonstrated by individuals and institutions in advancing legal awareness and services in Nagaland.

The event served as a platform to underscore the importance of legal literacy and the transformative potential of legal services in empowering communities across the state.
