“Zunheboto District Jubilee Celebration Day 2: Sumi Prayer Day Declared at Blessing Service”

The second day of the Zunheboto District Jubilee celebration featured a Blessing Service at Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto on November 12. The event saw G. Ikuto Zhimomi, Advisor Land Resources, as the Guest of Honour, and Dr. A Sukhato Sema, MLA, as the Special Guest.

Nikheto Jimomi, President of Sumi Hoho, declared the day as Sumi Prayer Day aligning with Ahuna, a post-harvest celebration. He emphasized honoring such auspicious occasions with cultural attires, urging the Sumi community to embrace their heritage.

Guest of Honour, Ikuto Zhimomi, reflected on the creation of Zunheboto District, highlighting the unity displayed by Sumi elders during its establishment. He encouraged present generations to emulate this unity for future progress. Zhimomi envisioned expanding the Zunheboto District Headquarter from its current 7 kilometers to 25 kilometers in the next 25 years. He urged citizens to envision Zunheboto transforming into a tourist destination and a premier hill station, emphasizing the need for unity, leaving aside differences.

MLA Dr. Sukhato A. Sema drew parallels between Jerusalem and Zunheboto, emphasizing Zunheboto’s significance as the center of Nagaland. He urged citizens to focus on quality education, healthcare, and economic growth, stressing the power and importance of unity in community development.

The program, chaired by Dr. Vihuto Asümi, General Secretary of Sumi Hoho, featured various components, including invocations, special songs, messages, and benedictions, highlighting the rich cultural and spiritual aspects of the celebration. Olivika and Likhulu served as the comperes for the event.
