Mizoram Dominates 3rd Northeast Open TT Championship: Clean Sweep in Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles

Chumoukedima, November 28, 2023: Mizoram’s table tennis prowess shone brightly as they clinched all the top positions in the 3rd Northeast India Academy Of Performing Arts Northeast Open TT Championship. The tournament reached a thrilling conclusion at the NIAPA Mini Stadium in Chumoukedima last evening.

In a spectacular display of skill, Jeho Himnakulhpuingheta, Mizoram’s top seed, secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Assam’s Agniv Bhaskar Gohain in the final match of the men’s category. In the women’s category, Mizo champion Lalthangsangi Sailo emerged victorious with a 4-2 win over the 12-time Meghalaya champion and two-time gold medalist Tanushree Das Gupta.

The Mizoram duo of Lalthangsangi and Jeho continued their winning streak, claiming the mixed doubles title by defeating the Meghalaya champions Suranjit & Tanushree in the final.

The triumphant winners were honored with cash prizes, citations, and trophies. Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Kevithuto Sophie, graced the event and presented the awards to the deserving teams, marking the successful conclusion of an intense and competitive championship.
