IAF Airlifts 64 Bodies for Last Rites Following Supreme Court Directive in Manipur Communal Violence

In Manipur, Indian Air Force helicopters airlifted 64 bodies, victims of communal violence, to their respective hometowns after a Supreme Court directive. The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, mandated the state government to issue a public notice, providing a week for the relatives to claim the bodies. Failing this, the state was instructed to carry out burials or cremations. The bodies, present in mortuaries for the last seven months, were transported to Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts in accordance with the court’s directive.
