Amit Shah Declares Last Decade as Golden Era for Northeast, Stresses Unprecedented Focus on Development and Peace

Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted the last decade as a golden era for the Northeast during the 71st Plenary of the Northeast Council in Shillong, Meghalaya. Shah emphasized the unprecedented focus on infrastructure development and conflict resolution, noting that the region is moving away from its history of blockades and unrest towards creating a peaceful and developed Northeast. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, also part of the program, expressed the leaders’ commitment to infrastructure development, considering it a crucial catalyst for progress.

He mentioned various projects in Nagaland, including an airport in Ciethu, Kohima, and the pursuit of a Foothills Road or Trans-Nagaland State Highway. Rio also highlighted efforts to establish an Indian Institute of Science Education & Research and upgrade the Medical College in Kohima. The plenary, attended by Governors and Chief Ministers of the eight Northeastern states, aimed to foster collaboration and leverage unique strengths for the region’s prosperity and harmony.
