NDPP Condemns MP Tokheho Yepthomi’s Call to Scrap Article 371 A, Stresses its Crucial Role in Indo-Naga Settlement

The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has denounced Lok Sabha MP Tokheho Yepthomi’s statement urging the Indian government to do away with Article 371 A. The party clarified that the MP’s remark does not represent the party’s views. Stressing the importance of Article 371 A during the critical stage of the Indo-Naga political settlement, the NDPP asserted that there should be no dilution of the article; instead, it should be reinforced to ensure lasting protection of traditional practices and the preservation of land and resources. The party called for unity among stakeholders to safeguard the rights and privileges of the people of Nagaland under Article 371 A. The Lok Sabha MP made the statement during a recent event in Chumoukedima.
