Nagaland Department of Food & Civil Supplies Ensures Access to eKYC for NFSA Beneficiaries

The Department of Food & Civil Supplies in Nagaland issued a reminder emphasizing that Fair Price Shops (FPS) across the state must not deny any NFSA (National Food Security Act) beneficiary the opportunity to perform the eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) campaign. This directive aims to achieve the target set by the Government of India within the stipulated period.

Director Chubawati Chang highlighted in a press release that certain FPS in the state have been restricting beneficiaries from other FPS to conduct eKYC in their respective outlets, except for those directly associated with their FPS. He clarified that any NFSA beneficiary in Nagaland can undergo eKYC at any FPS within the state, as per directives from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Department.

Additionally, Chang reiterated that the Ministry has set a deadline of February 2024 to complete the eKYC process. Any FPS found non-compliant with these regulations will face necessary disciplinary action.

The statement underscores the commitment of the Nagaland government to ensure equal access to essential services for all NFSA beneficiaries and to fulfill the directives mandated by the central government.
