Retired DGP T J Longkumer Appointed as Nagaland’s State Election Commissioner

In a significant move, the Nagaland government has designated T J Longkumer, a retired DGP of Nagaland, as the State Election Commissioner. The official announcement came via a Nagaland Gazette notification issued today, following approval by the Governor of Nagaland.

As per the notification, T J Longkumer assumes the pivotal role of State Election Commissioner immediately, with a tenure lasting five years or until he turns 65, or until further orders are issued, whichever occurs earlier. The terms and conditions of Longkumer’s appointment will adhere to the guidelines stipulated in the State Election Commissioner (Condition of Service) Rule, 2023.
