In a recent operation conducted on Monday, the Assam Rifles intercepted a significant haul of 120 tons of Areca Nuts valued at ₹14.32 crore on National Highway 29 in Kohima. The Assam Rifles reported that during a surprise inspection of vehicles near Jakhama, four pickups and five trucks were discovered transporting Areca Nuts without the requisite permits and documentation.
The individuals involved, along with the seized Areca Nuts and vehicles, were promptly handed over to officials from the Customs Department for further investigation and legal action.
