Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain Win Grammy for ‘This Moment’; Prime Minister Modi Extends Congratulations

Renowned Indian musicians Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain, along with their fusion band Shakti, have secured the prestigious Grammy award for Best Global Music Album. Their latest album, “This Moment,” released in June last year, captured the hearts of audiences worldwide with its innovative blend of musical styles.

The album features eight tracks composed by John McLaughlin, Zakir Khan, Shankar Mahadevan, V Selvaganesh, and Ganesh Rajagopalan, showcasing the diverse talents of the ensemble. Additionally, Zakir Hussain received another Grammy in the Best Global Music Performance category for his contribution to Pashto, alongside Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer, featuring Rakesh Chaurasia.

Rakesh Chaurasia, a veteran Indian classical flute artist, achieved a remarkable feat by winning dual Grammys for his collaborative album, “As We Speak,” in the Best Contemporary Instrumental and Best Global Music Performance categories.

The 66th Annual Grammy Awards 2024, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, celebrated the exceptional achievements of musicians from around the world.
