Deputy Commissioner Wokha Urges CSOs to Temporarily Halt Indefinite Bandh

On February 9th, 2024, Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Amit Kumar Ranjan, extended an appeal to the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of Wokha District, urging them to temporarily suspend their ongoing indefinite bandh. In a letter directed to the Chairman of Lotha Hoho Wokha, Ranjan underscored recent developments concerning the resumption of construction works along the 2-lane stretch from Km 72.4 to Km 83.00 on NH61 (new NH-2).

Ranjan informed that a final notice of 10 days had been issued to the contractor by the Chief Engineer PWD (National Highway) on February 8th, mandating the resumption of work. Failure to comply would result in necessary actions being initiated against the contractor.

Considering the proactive steps taken by the concerned department and the earnest efforts initiated for the project’s early completion, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to all relevant CSOs within Wokha District to temporarily halt the indefinite bandh.

The appeal underscores the administration’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the community while emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in fostering sustainable solutions for regional development and infrastructure enhancement.
