Wokha Marks Third Day of Total Shutdown as Protest Intensifies

Wokha, February 10th, 2024: Wokha continues to observe its third consecutive day of total shutdown as various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) escalate their protest actions. The protest has seen the locking down of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, closure of the Sub-Divisional Officer (National Highway) Wokha office, and a complete halt on vehicular movement and commercial activities throughout the district.

With authorities yet to respond to their demands, the CSOs have resolved to extend the total lockdown until further notice. Earlier today, a significant gathering assembled at Police Point Wokha to express solidarity with the ongoing protest and to urge the government to expedite an amicable solution.

The steadfast resolve of the CSOs and the community’s unified support underscore the urgency of addressing the grievances and finding a resolution to the impasse. As the shutdown enters its third day, the call for dialogue and meaningful intervention from authorities grows louder, emphasizing the need for constructive engagement to restore normalcy and address the concerns of the populace.
