Nagaland Government Bans Unauthorized Monetary Collections by NGO’s, associations, unions, and other private and community organizations.

The Nagaland Government has officially banned unauthorized monetary collections by non-governmental organizations, associations, unions, and other private and community organizations. This decision targets the illegal collection of taxes, membership fees, subscriptions, contributions, donations, charges, levies, tolls, and other monetary forms on state and national highways, as well as in marketplaces.

The state government has issued similar directives in the past to curb these unauthorized financial activities. However, due to persistent violations, the government has reiterated its stance. Any individual or organization found engaging in such illegal activities will face prosecution under Sections 188 and 384 of the Indian Penal Code.

In line with this, the Home Commissioner of Nagaland has instructed the Director General of Police and the Commissioner of Nagaland to ensure strict compliance and enforcement of the ban. District administrations and police authorities have been directed to uphold the law and prevent unauthorized collections across the state.
