Another Nagaland Armed Police Personnel Dies of Heatstroke in Bihar

Patna, June 1, 2024 – In a tragic development, a third personnel from the 10th Nagaland Armed Police (IR) succumbed to heatstroke while on election duty in Bihar. The latest casualty was reported early Saturday morning around 5:30 am, following the deaths of two other personnel from the same unit due to the severe heatwave sweeping across the region.

The deceased, Constable Akangluba and Hav. Nikiye Sumi, both passed away within the last week, highlighting the extreme conditions faced by those on duty. The Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Y. Patton, expressed deep sorrow over the losses, acknowledging the dedication and service of the deceased officers.

The ongoing heatwave in Bihar has posed significant challenges, with temperatures soaring and taking a toll on those deployed for election duties. The state administration, along with the Election Commission, is taking measures to address these issues and ensure the safety of personnel on the ground.
