Nagaland Police Honors Fallen Constable Yangtsase Sangtam with Ex-Gratia Payment

June 7th, 2024: Nagaland Police reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining law and order and ensuring public peace in the state. In a recent press release, the Nagaland Police highlighted their efforts in tackling left-wing extremism and election duties across the country, often at great personal risk.

During the recently concluded Parliamentary Election, Nagaland Armed Police (India Reserve) Coys were deployed in all seven phases. On May 23, Constable Yangtsase Sangtam tragically fell from a building after performing election rally duties for the Prime Minister in Patiala, Punjab, and succumbed to his injuries.

In recognition of Constable Sangtam’s supreme sacrifice, the Government of Punjab credited an ex-gratia payment of 15 lakh rupees to his wife, in accordance with Election Commission of India guidelines. The Nagaland Police emphasized that while monetary compensation cannot replace the loss of life, they remain committed to supporting the families of their deceased personnel.
