Clean Doyang Mission at Doyang Dam Reservoir Underway to Clear Solid Wastes

9th June, 2024: The Clean Doyang Mission, an initiative aimed at clearing solid wastes from the Doyang Dam Reservoir, has officially begun. This mission, organized by the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO), was initiated by the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan. The teams involved in this mission include the District Disaster Management Authority, Wokha Divisional Forest Department, Fishery Department, Water Resource Department, and NEEPCO, as well as the EAC.

A preparatory meeting was held among key stakeholders, including village council members, representatives from various villages, the Deputy Commissioner, and the Superintendent of Police, Wokha. Deputy Commissioner Ranjan emphasized that the Clean Doyang Mission will continue for the next few days as part of a short-term effort, with long-term plans being developed to ensure the sustainability of the reservoir’s cleanliness.

Ranjan urged the local community to raise awareness about the importance of managing solid waste and assured them of full support from the government. He stressed the significance of the Doyang Reservoir as a valuable asset, highlighting the collective responsibility to protect and preserve it. The Deputy Commissioner encouraged collaboration between government agencies and the local community to ensure the success of the mission.
