Five Government Colleges Receive Buses from Higher Education Department

12th June 2024: The Department of Higher Education, Nagaland, has provided five college buses to government colleges. Additional Secretary of Higher & Technical Education, Sentiyanger Pongen, flagged off the buses yesterday in the presence of Directorate officials and the principals of the respective colleges. The buses have been allocated to Sao Chang College Tuensang, New Model College Mangkolemba, Zunheboto Government College, New Model College Wakching, and Peren Government College.

During the event, Pongen expressed optimism that the colleges would make the best use of this transportation facility. Director of Higher Education, Dr. A. Nshoga, informed that out of 19 college buses proposed to the government, the department received five this year. He highlighted transportation as one of the biggest challenges in the higher education department and emphasized that providing these buses is a crucial step in promoting higher education in Nagaland.

Acknowledging the need for government colleges, especially those in remote areas, to have reliable transportation, Dr. Nshoga hoped that the state government would address this issue and extend the provision to remaining colleges in a phased manner.
