Dimapur Police Reinforces Firecracker Ban for a Safer Environment

Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Kevithuto Sophie, has issued a stern reminder about the ban on bursting firecrackers, emphasizing the need for a safe and eco-friendly environment. In an advisory, citizens are urged to act responsibly, considering the environmental and health hazards associated with firecrackers. Commissioner Sophie clarified that during Christmas’ Eve and New Year’s Eve, the use of firecrackers will be restricted from 11:55 PM to 12:30 AM. Only Reduced Emission and Green crackers approved by the Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organization will be allowed during this period. Sales should be through licensed traders, adhering to permissible types. Prohibitions extend to silence zones, areas near healthcare and educational institutions, and the use of specific harmful materials in firecrackers. Violators will face penalties in accordance with the law.”
