“Nagaland Legislative Assembly Committee Resolves 13-Year Stalemate, Nagaland House in Navi Mumbai Set for Utilization”

The Committee on Government Assurances of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, headed by Kuzholuzo Nienu, recently visited the Nagaland House in Navi Mumbai on November 6th and 7th, 2023. During the visit, accompanied by key members and officials, a ‘spot verification’ was conducted to understand the reasons behind the 13-year non-operational status of the building.

High-level meetings with officials like Chief Secretary Manoj Saunik IAS and others clarified that, as per the Coastal Zone Management

Plan 2019, the Nagaland House is now outside the Coastal Regulation Zone. Pending consultation with the Chief Minister of Nagaland, the building can be occupied. The delay was attributed to the absence of an Occupational Certificate from the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation due to the land falling under the Coastal Regulation Zone.

The Committee expressed gratitude to the Maharashtra Government and officials for their cooperation, anticipating significant benefits for Nagas facing challenges in Mumbai.
