Empowering Women: SHG Expo Inaugurated by Minister Metsubo Jamir
Metsubo Jamir, the Minister for Rural Development & SIRD, inaugurated the Self Help Group (SHG) Expo and SHG Marketing Project at Naga Shopping Arcade in Dimapur. During the inauguration, Jamir highlighted the pivotal role played by those who contribute economically to society, emphasizing the significant contribution of women from SHGs to the state’s social and economic progress.
Jamir underlined that self-reliance not only provides financial independence but also empowers women to make decisions, positively impacting their lives and communities. He noted that SHGs empower rural women socially, economically, and politically, giving them the skills and confidence to participate in decision-making processes.
The Minister stressed the importance of market linkage and encouraged partnerships with established businesses and e-commerce platforms. This, he believes, will offer opportunities for women SHGs to showcase their creativity and products. The SHG Expo aims to bring local artisans and SHGs onto a platform, promoting the sale and export of their products directly to a larger customer base without middlemen involvement.
The initiative aligns with the broader goal of fostering economic independence and empowering women at various levels, making them active contributors to the overall development of the state.
