India Supports UN Resolution Condemning Settlement Activities in Palestinian and Syrian Territories

India aligns with 145 nations in favor of the United Nations resolution condemning settlement activities in the “Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in the occupied Syrian Golan.” The resolution passes overwhelmingly with seven countries, including Canada, Hungary, Israel, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, and the United States, voting against, and 18 abstaining.

This decision follows India’s recent abstention from voting on a UN General Assembly draft resolution, submitted by Jordan, calling for an immediate truce in the Israel-Hamas conflict. Notably, the previous resolution made no mention of the Hamas terrorist group responsible for an attack on Israel in early October. India abstained alongside 44 other countries, while 14 voted against it, and the resolution was adopted with overwhelming support from 120 nations.
